“I love you back” 6: Come Shopping to Sainsburys
I have been settling in lovely Stoke Newington for 3 weeks so far and one of my Sunday exercises is getting myself to the nearby Dalston Kingsland mall for food shopping and people watching. Dalston Kingsland shopping centre is a real mix, you get one side full of big black ladies in their colourful traditional dresses and the other side a flood of skinny jeans, ripped, distressed and studded. But it doesn’t mean it’s not a harmony. This vibrant area is such a contrast to West London where I lived in the past 4 and half years, however, it still gives me a warmed-up feeling.
Before entering the mall I spotted this girl in front of me in a pair of chunky heel boots and patchwork sued fring jacket. Leopard pattern chiffon shirt peak out of her jacket sleeves which gives more depth to the outfit. Sheered fabric tones down the hard western feel of the jacket.
Then at fish section inside of the Sainsburys this couple look interesting. The girl’s swing shape trench coat was equally delicious as her tote which is in navy canvas and brown leather. Tabs slightly placed off the shoulder, centre back pleats carefully folded and closed with another 3 tabs, good quality of D-rings—-all of these tell me this must be thoughtful designer piece.
My sight suddenly got lid up when this colourful girl stopped in front of me. Photographic prints on her nylon jacket accompanied with an equally loud printed sporty shorts. The print symphony still carries on with pink leopard tights and nude-aqua pumps. She wins, I favour her look most.
All the clash of prints are carefully mixed together, I couldn’t help but had to break my rule of ‘I love you back’ and asked her for a photo of front.
Turn around to the coffee section, I bumped into this lovely girl with a chain-mail slouch bag, which I was surprised it was actually from Topshop! The whole dark angle-school girl look is very AW10 Proenza Schouler-ish!
Ok…I guess I’m definitely settled in this area now, will you come shopping at Kingland’s Sainsburys too??
