Not too serious, not too casual

In the past 4 seasons, Alexander Wang has been showing his collection in a routine of Summer in Casual and Winter in Tailoring. For Resort 2011, his collection seems quite different from previous, therefore, it took me a little while to LOVE it.

First of all, a very re-freshing colour palatte. Neutrals, White, and White are actually becoming quite feminine with the blocks of Maroon added in. Styling wise is very ‘cutting edge’ for Wang as he mixed both casual and tailoring together. There’re tailored shorts and suits carried on from previously AW10 ‘Wall Street’ theme collection. There’re still signature pieces of super sheered jersey-knit dress, slouched chunky knits and cycling shorts.

Again, I’m totally in love with all the layering and different hemlines. I was never a fan of Maroon as it always looks too formal and old aged, however, this time I actually can’t wait to wear that lovely Maroon which became never too casual nor too serious!! Fun to see how Wang changed a colour’s personality!!
