Fashion Windows: Oslo August 2010

Posted by awais on August 13, 2010

I’ve been having some real difficulties lately taking pictures of the fashion windows here in Oslo. Maybe it’s the light, maybe it’s the camera, maybe the photographer is incompetent or perhaps it’s a combination of all three. The window glasses are reflecting a lot of light so it’s difficult to take good pictures. Today’s been really cloudy though so I thought I’d use the opportunity to take a few snaps in my lunch break.

Spools of golden lace in the windows at Louis Vuitton. The reels double as a table for the merchandise. The golden lace has also been used to embroider “Maison fondée en 1854″ on the back wall of the display chambre. I love the reels, but I feel more could have been done with the display . I’m all for keeping things simple, but I would have loved to see more merchandise on display and perhaps stuff which isn’t monogram (since they have that in the other windows too).

More pictures from Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Hugo Boss after the jump

Next up is Hermès where the theme is picnics in the park and enjoying summertime in the garden. As with Louis Vuitton I like the overall theme, but I think the whole display falls a bit flat. There’s not enough merchandise in the windows, the few things they have there look as if they’ve just been thrown in at random and to be honest it looks as if it was done a bit half-heartedly. I also think they should consider creating a wall that covers the entire back of the window. The “half walls” they have at the moment aren’t really helping make things look better.

Final shop up in this post is Hugo Boss. Their displays are very simple, as always. I do find it a bit odd though that they only had men’s styles on display when the shop carries both menswear and womenswear.

  • I feel the Monogram fits well in the window as the golden laces complement the browns quite beautifully. Haven’t seen the new window display so I’ll drop by one of these days.

The Hermes windows in Oslo are terrible! No creativity whatsoever, it’s just a catalog window.

  • I think the gold and brown look good together as well, but I would just like to see some more of the “non-staple” merchandise on display. For instance, they have some gorgeous women’s shoes in plum/aubergine that would look sooo nice in that display, or some lovely green men’s sneakers (waaaaant!) :)

  • Green sneakers?! My interest is piqued Mister!

  • Hehe, it’s probably more right to say they’re olive or military green. I’m kinda scared of going to the shop now though, because it’s soooo tempting to get them and I should probably save my money for more important things like bills instead (*sob*)

  • The reason why Hugo Boss didn´t display womenswear is that they had just stopped carrying womenswear. If you had entered the store you would have noticed this. Of course it would have been quite a bad and odd decision to exclude womenswear if they had still carried it.

Do you have anything to say?
