Liu Wen 刘雯 – Estee Lauder New 2011 Ad

Posted by Qing on December 7, 2010 | No comments

My favourite Chinese model Liu Wen has got many honor under her belt, first Asian model to walk Victoria’s Secret, first Chinese model within top 10 world model chart, and of course the very first Asian model for Estee Lauder. She explained a while ago about her relationship with Estee Lauder is like a lovers’ dating relationship, both got passion for each other and both getting to learn each other. This is quite a sweet way to describe. So all of us have been waiting for the ‘gossip’ of their first date and here, finally, comes the details out…first imageries of Liu Wen for Estee Lauder.

Lanvin! H&M!! Lanvin!!!

Posted by Qing on November 7, 2010 | One comment

So yeah Lanvin for H&M collection is finally out. We all can not wait for it. And the title catch line has that super girlie powerness —- ‘ I don’t want flowers, I want Lanvin!’ The collection is undoubtedly huge between mens and womens. I have put below collage together as a wish list including the Mens white tux jacket, lush!

Then I thought the wish list is a bit too long. I will never be able to get them all in the battle. So I reduced the wish list a little bit, which is the collage below… Mens white tux is still a must-have, as well as the lipstick and the sun glasses. So what’s your wish list of Lanvin for H&M??

Pick One, Maybe Two or Three

J Brand is simply not stopping their massive Designer-Collaboration-Plan and this time instead of teaming with just one designer at time, it’s 5 designers and selling at 5 different locations in London!

Starting from beginning of 2010, we all knew the great print work done by Proenza Schouler. They are slightly high-rise and straight cigarette legs with hand scribble print.

The 5×5 project commissioned by Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Erdem, a U.K. extension of the wildly successful Proenza Schouler collab. With only 250 pairs in each style, girls are firing up their Sat-navs for the fastest routes: (on the picture from left to right)

It’s Selfridges for Pilotto’s powder-effect hue-print,

Liberty for Nicoll’s slick panel-fronted jean,

Harvey Nichols for Kane’s camouflage high-rise with 10” side-zips,

Browns for Kirchoff’s patched and “hand-repair” heavyweight twill skinny fit boy-jeans,

and Harrods for Erdem’s blue floral print.

Welcome Back – Amber Valletta

Posted by Qing on September 7, 2010 | No comments

Amber Valletta has always been one of my favourate models from 90s. She looks boyish with the super-wide forehead, however, she could look so womanly with her full lips. I’m pleased to see her acting in 2 AW2010 campaigns in UK Vogue September Issue.

One is with Jimmy Choo

Another is with Joseph

Have to admit that both companies are with that sharp, sexy and strong feminine styles and Amber is just so perfect for that sort of look. And this signature look of hers has barely changed since 90s. Here’re a couple of images from my early memory about Valletta. She looks clean and gentle in those classic Chanel Resorts.

是不是有点超低龄?Chanel resort campaign 2011

Posted by Qing on August 11, 2010 | One comment

It was back in May when Chanel launched their Resort 2011 lookbook in Saint-Tropez. I have really been hesitating to post this entry. Does Georgia Jagger look a bit too young there? Feels a bit like a little girl stealing from her mum’s wardrobe and showing off…

Then later in a discussion with a fashion fellow, she shrugged—’isn’t that a Chanel thing?!’

‘What?’ I was confused.

‘Back in the 80s when my boss had to entertain Karl in HongKong, he particularly requested some young boys.’

‘How young?’

‘Like 12, 13.’

Channeling Charlie

Posted by awais on August 1, 2010 | No comments

I really love it when stylists make pop culture references in their fashion shoots. It can be a subtle nod to a famous photograph or maybe a full-on remake of an iconic vintage ad. For instance, I really loved this picture of Charlie’s angel Cameron Diaz in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar (US edition). In the photo, Diaz isn’t channeling Natalie Cook, her character in the Charlie’s Angels movies, but another famous Charlie girl from the 70′s – one of the girls from the iconic “Charlie by Revlon” ads.

The stylist behind this photograph is Rachel Zoe and the photographer is Terry Richardson. I haven’t seen any new Charlie ads for years, but in the Autumn/Winter 2010-edition of Elle Collections, Revlon has a double spread where they’re running a couple of their vintage ones from the 70′s.

Filippa K Autumn/Winter 2010-11 campaign

Posted by awais on July 12, 2010 | No comments

I saw these images from Filippa K’s autumn/winter 2010 campaign at The Fashionisto’s blog the other day. The campaign features Danish model Mathias Lauridsen. Filippa K is one of my favourite brands and they’re opening a new flagship store in Oslo in September! The address of the new store will be Øvre Slottsgate right next to where another Swedish superbrand, Acne, will open their flagship store in August.

Model Scene – Liu Wen 刘雯 is HOT!

Posted by Qing on April 12, 2010 | One comment

As I was doing a research on all oriental designers and models, my attention is getting more and more locked on this girl. Yes, I don’t want to have any fuss on this entry’s title and just want to make it clear that the hottest model in my mind at the moment is Liu Wen from China.

First time noticing her was from Alexander Wang’s Pre-Fall 2010 collection photos from Style.com. Then she appeared every single city during AW2010 fashion week and walked for over 70 shows, I start to like her more and more.

In 2009, Liu Wen became the first woman of East Asian descent to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. And I only just recognized her recently in Alexander McQueen’s SS10 show ‘Plato’s Atlantis’.

I think a good model with strong feature would not be covered completely unrecognizable with tons of make-up and hairs. For example Kate Moss, no matter what look she’s been styled on, you could always tell ‘that’s her!’ and Liu Wen is no doubtfully same.

Personally really like this 60s China Red Guard look created for Alexander Wang’s SS10 campaign. She actually looks very sweet there.

She casually brings out the boyish sexiness.

…and could also be full of strength in this i-D editorial December 2009…

…but you can not label her for just being a tomboy…

…although she’s already really good at layering pieces and rocking the DMs.

First we take Manhattan, then we take Paris

Yesterday Kevin at myMANybags had a great post about Canadian outerwear label Mackage who are set to open a pop up store in NYC’s Meatpacking district in September. The post also has a lot of great pics from the label’s autumn/winter campain. I hate winter with passion, but one of the few positive things about the temperature dropping is that one can finally wear beautiful things like this again.

Yesterday Kevin at myMANybags had a great post about Canadian outerwear label Mackage who are set to open a pop up store in NYC’s Meatpacking district in September (click >> here for exact location), they’re also planning to open a shop in Paris in November. The post also has a lot of great pics from the label’s autumn/winter campain. Being a native Oslovian I must admit that I hate winter and cold weather with passion, but one of the few positive things about the temperature dropping is that one can finally wear beautiful things like this again.
