There were rumours last year about Alexander Wang going to do collaboration with Nike together, which would be in fact an awesome idea since his style already marks himself as King of Casual. The news somehow fell right through and left with ‘just a rumour’ disappointment for all of us. But the dream boy has never stopped pursuing his dream. Instead of linking up with other sport giant, why don’t you launch the perfect trainer yourself??
Contrasted in perfect black and white and in his signature clever material-surface-contrast, the trainer shown below is just a perfect dream for casual lovers from boys to girls.
…and a selection of NYC kool boyz gathering together for a photoshoot here, all dressed in T by Alexander Wang line for mens. Guess if you have a dream, then just chase it hard as you can!
With Milan switching to Paris, the annual twice fashion week is closing to an end again. I’ve recently seen this image in London Metro newspaper and couldn’t help but scan it and share it here. Because it really makes me think again.
The pink and white stripy T-shirt and over-washed jeans. It all seems very familiar and reminds me of Italian designer duo DSquare2′s collection (which you have a peek below here.)
But when I read on, the story was quite shocking - Children and old people had to edge along a narrow cliff-side path to collect water as drought grips their village. They live in one of the worst-hit areas of China, where almost all the crops have failed as streams have dried up. And they are forced to make daily trips along the perilous track to find drinking water in caves!!
While some of us are raving about what to wear next season, some other human beings in the world are worrying about food and fresh water… This makes me think again, but we can’t help with the buzz of newness flashing over every single season, can we?!
NYFW has been nearly a week and close to its ending. Accessories wise the first I noticed ever was of course Alexander Wang’s ‘Gang’ (that’s what he calls his girls this season). The super pointy pump looks very striking and crying out to fetch everyone’s attention. After having a decade of semi round toes and semi pointy toes, I was not sure at the beginning how to accept it, also because they also look quite painful!
But soon later, I started to notice that there’s a whole group of designers joining the trend of nineties-ish pointy shoes! And believe or not, if you’re a kool kid in NYFW showbiz, then your models would be rocking a pair of pointy shoes.
Altuzarra’s pointy shoes are less motorcycle themed as Wang’s and a bit more of a power lady look.
Daryl K’s pointy shoe boots are more rock n roll
Duro Olowu’s metallic pointy pumps are very pretty lady tasteful!
Thakoon and Peter Som’s collections are also included with semi pointy shoes. Now I realized most of the kool kids from NYFW are definitely at top of the new trend waves…yes bring back a bit of 90s and bring back some sharpness from those olden days!
W magazine July cover with Christina Aguilera – after being a raw kid, then a woman, after marriage and divorce, this angelic look of her couldn’t be any more suitable.
I’m really worrying about my wallet at the second when I saw the first image of Resort show by my favourite designer Alexander Wang. The collection got a very refreshing colour pallete – sporty, a bit vintage mood (referring to the vintage 70s sportsmen photograph Wang has been referencing from) and some futuristic technology, and of course the very important element of Wang-esque – the ‘street feel’ – sporting swim suit together with day wear is a new trend peeking out of New York street scene!
And here’re the evidence.
Wang has also announced to schedule of opening his second store, in Beijing!! I guess there’s also a possibility due to the image and quality control. Because since his name is widely spread in China, it’s very difficult for any Chinese followers to purchase his designs. Hence why there’re so many purchase agencies Chinese on-line operating purchases from individual buyers and of course there’re many fakes floating around in China and HongKong areas. Therefore, I think that’s a very strong clever move. Instead of planting his second store in any of european cities, he is going to put his foot firmly to the root.
Thanks to my friend John (who is finally taking his first baby steps into the world of blogs), I recently had the opportunity to attend a press screening of the Black Swan, courtesy of the lovely people at L’Oréal and Yves Saint Laurent’s fragrance La Nuit de l’Homme. What’s the connection between the fragrance and the movie, you ask? Well, there’s a several. The movie’s male lead is played by none other than French actor Vincent Cassel, who also happens to be the face of YSL’s new campaign for La Nuit de l’Homme.
Some might recall that this isn’t the first time he is fronting a campaign for the maison’s best selling fragrance; he also fronted their campaign in 2009. Very well, another connection with the movie is that the TV commercial for the fragrance was shot by none other than Darren Aronofsky – the director of Black Swan.
The perfume is spicy and masculine, but at the same time very sensual with notes of bergamot, cedar and lavender. It is definitely one of my all-time favourite men’s fragrances and I’m currently on my third bottle!
The movie itself was amazing. Not only was the story really captivating, but all the imagery surrounding it was beautiful as well. The fantastic ballerina costumes by Rodarte, or the amazing makeup by M.A.C. should be reason enough for any fashionista to want to see it. Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel and Winona Ryder all delivered amazing performances in the movie. I think this might be Natalie’s strongest role till date, and if she doesn’t get an Oscar for this role, there just is no justice!
My favourite Chinese model Liu Wen has got many honor under her belt, first Asian model to walk Victoria’s Secret, first Chinese model within top 10 world model chart, and of course the very first Asian model for Estee Lauder. She explained a while ago about her relationship with Estee Lauder is like a lovers’ dating relationship, both got passion for each other and both getting to learn each other. This is quite a sweet way to describe. So all of us have been waiting for the ‘gossip’ of their first date and here, finally, comes the details out…first imageries of Liu Wen for Estee Lauder.
