A dash of sparkles

Posted by awais on February 14, 2011 | 6 comments

It seems like everyone is doing designer collaborations these days, be it Lanvin for H&M, Jil Sander for Uniqlo, Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania for Lee Jeans or Rodarte for Target. I have to admit that not every special collection or collaboration is that memorable, but every now and then a company does something that really sparks my interest. One such recent collaboration I found quite interesting was the one unveiled by Swarovski Elements during the menswear fashion week in Milan last month.

Bally for Swarovski Elements

For those who don’t know, Swarovski Elements is Swarovski’s premium brand for fine crystal elements. For this collaboration, the company invited sixteen major players in the menswear arena to create a range of luxury goods using the finest crystal elements by Swarovski. The list of labels they invited to do this collaboration is as star-studded (pun intended) as the dazzling collection itself; Emporio Armani, Brioni, Dior Homme, Gianfranco Ferre, Ermenegildo Zegna, Marni, Bally, Salvatore Ferragamo and Pringle of Scotland to mention a few.

Roberto Cavalli for Swarovski Elements

The result is a sophisticated and exquisite collection that will add some omph to any dashing young fellow’s wardrobe. The collection consists of suits, tuxedos, neckties, shoes, slippers and other accessories. More pictures of the collection can be viewed at the Swarovski Elements Facebook Page, or in this video by L’Uomo Vogue.

"Shoes, oh my god, shoes"

People who know me know about my slight obsession (understatement) with shoes. I’m always taking pictures of pairs I like and my iphone is full of photos of my own shoes, shoes friends are wearing, shoes I like in shops, shoes random people on the street are wearing etc. So I thought I’d put up a collage with some of these pictures.
