The holiday season is over us and the designer boutiques and department stores have started rolling out their christmas and winter displays. Some are really subtle, some are really in your face, whilst some are so plain that you can’t really tell it’s a christmas window. More pictures after the jump.

To surprise the audience, all you need to do is to break the normal rules you’ve been setting up and have a break through. That’s exactly what Frida Giannini has done for Gucci SS11. Without a single print, with which Gucci had huge success on previous a few SS collections, this collection is set out to have the bold colours and … amazing craftsmanship. Here we present you a string of closed-up detail shots.

a vest formed by fringing and weaved fine leather strips

lacing up details

this one is particularly clever, weaved with eye-lets, metal rings, waxed cords and leather strips…

weave-through technique continues on a bigger scale by concentrating on the waist…

fine chains, beads and tassel fringings…

You can not have these ideas came out by just sitting in a nice and clean design studios. They are from the amazing experience of craftsman technique which are collected, inherited and passed-on through generations!

So I’m in Dallas at the moment after having helped my better half move from Houston. Today we went to the Galleria mall here in Dallas. It’s a lot smaller than it’s namesake in Houston, but they did have a few high-end fashion shops – including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Thomas Pink.

Thomas Pink’s windows are inspired by London. More pics from Thomas Pink and other stores, after the jump.

As mentioned in the last post, I’m in Houston at the moment. Whenever I’m in the city, I always make sure to visit Galleria – the biggest mall in Texas and one of the largest ones in the US. With several high end fashion boutiques such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Versace, Gucci and Dior to mention a few and anchors such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, Galleria is paradise for fashion lovers. So, yesterday I took some snaps of some of the shop windows and displays at the mall’s main fashion walk:
