A Few Favourite Outfits with Liu Wen
Fashion magazines, trend agencies and trend setters have been predicting that underwear as outerwear would become a major trend for I-don’t-remember-how-long. Now it seems like it’s finally happening, the hype is finally becoming true. A good example of this is Kenzo’s spring/summer 2011 presentation.
…another good example is the Proenza Schouler boys, who have just pushed this trend to the extreme.
Celebrities who have been rocking this trend include Chloe Sevigny and Zoe Saldana. These two have been channeling this trend since last season. I have no doubt believing that there will be a “trickle down” effect very soon and that the high street will pick up and transform this trend and give it a broader mainstream appeal very soon. Perhaps they will make it more acceptable for people by making garments where you don’t show the bra directly, like in first picture from Kenzo, but instead use sheer layers that just reveal a little bit – leaving a little bit of imagination to the viewers.
Fashion month is over. For the past few seasons we have posted playlists with some of our favourite tracks from the catwalks, and this season is no different. In this post we present to you, 15 of our favourite tracks from the Spring/Summer 2011 shows. The songs are as different as the collections – some are edgy, some are classic and some are completely unexpected.

J Brand is simply not stopping their massive Designer-Collaboration-Plan and this time instead of teaming with just one designer at time, it’s 5 designers and selling at 5 different locations in London!
Starting from beginning of 2010, we all knew the great print work done by Proenza Schouler. They are slightly high-rise and straight cigarette legs with hand scribble print.
The 5×5 project commissioned by Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Erdem, a U.K. extension of the wildly successful Proenza Schouler collab. With only 250 pairs in each style, girls are firing up their Sat-navs for the fastest routes: (on the picture from left to right)
It’s Selfridges for Pilotto’s powder-effect hue-print,
Liberty for Nicoll’s slick panel-fronted jean,
Harvey Nichols for Kane’s camouflage high-rise with 10” side-zips,
Browns for Kirchoff’s patched and “hand-repair” heavyweight twill skinny fit boy-jeans,
and Harrods for Erdem’s blue floral print.
First checking on Proenza Schouler collection, we thought – ehhh? so many jackets?!
Carry on checking on it, we thought – Oh MG, boys did it again!!
So I ditch the looks with jackets and post the lay-out images of my wish list here for you all to look. Number one item is the sheered tie-dye-mix-dip-dye long sleeve T
Now NY Fashion Week has finished and I have to admit that the coolest boys in town should be Proenza Schouler and Alexander Wang.
It was Proenza Schouler made scuba-diving cool in the fashion market and mixing a bit of futurism into those tropical colours during their SS10 collection. Again, their AW10 is making leather so much more wearable and approachable, make this way…nothing meat-market type. They also mix cool geo print with sweet flavour florals in fit n’ flare shapes, which is now their signature shape and also up-coming No.1 shape in dresses.
Alexander Wang took his scissors to wall street bankers’ suits. No one could fill the catwalk with so much pin stripes and still so stylish. Velvet and mesh mixed dresses are so divine and I”m sure his tailored city shorts will be seen on women as a cool day-wear stable too. His energy and the full understanding of women’s modern taste also reflexed by the action of broadcasting live on New York Time Square.
Not only his clothes are widely copied among high street, but also the hair style and detail styling too. I can already see lots of girls playing the messy fish tail plaits from his SS10 catwalk show. I can’t wait to see if there’s any greasy sweep-to-one-side look showing around in the fashion world in AW10.
Well…it’s not that I’m still soaked within Avatar’s wage. But I really admire all these blues for SS10. And these different mood of blues look the best if a dash of LIME mixing in. Hope you agree…?
Clockwise from top left—-Kenzo…Proenza Schoeler…Stella McCartney for Adidas—Alexander McQueen—Proenza Schouler—denim overall—Yohji Yamamoto(with hands)

The past three months have been insanely busy, so I haven’t had the opportunity to post much. However, I have been writing a few drafts in this period that I will try to wrap up and post in the coming few days. First one up – Fashionomics!

Just overheard Hilary Alexander on Versace: 'the only show where the heels measured more than the skirts.' Very true.

There’s an economic theory that says that hemlines rise in good economic times and drop in poor times. If one was to judge by the hemlines at some of the fashion show weeks this season, the economy is definitely skyrocketing next year and the recession will finally be over.
