I really love it when stylists make pop culture references in their fashion shoots. It can be a subtle nod to a famous photograph or maybe a full-on remake of an iconic vintage ad. For instance, I really loved this picture of Charlie’s angel Cameron Diaz in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar (US edition). In the photo, Diaz isn’t channeling Natalie Cook, her character in the Charlie’s Angels movies, but another famous Charlie girl from the 70′s – one of the girls from the iconic “Charlie by Revlon” ads.

The stylist behind this photograph is Rachel Zoe and the photographer is Terry Richardson. I haven’t seen any new Charlie ads for years, but in the Autumn/Winter 2010-edition of Elle Collections, Revlon has a double spread where they’re running a couple of their vintage ones from the 70′s.

No, I don’t mean The September Issue, but the September issues of Harper’s Bazaar US. Vogue Hommes Japan and GQ Style US who all pay tribute to Michael Jackson.
Harper’s Bazaar’s September cover was shot by Terry Richardson and features Agyness Deyn, channeling different looks of Michael Jackson.
GQ Style’s cover features the King of Pop himself. The issue has a great article about his life, but I don’t really see the whole style connection here. The could’ve done soo much more with this issue.
My favourite soo far though is the second preview cover of Vogue Hommes Japan. The cover features Keith Hernandez and is shot by Josh Olins.
